about

A sort of musical short story concept album, written mostly in one marathon week Ed spent snowed in in a secluded house in the deschutes ntl forest. The Liar's Dream is about loss of identity, reality and self, followed by the slow, hard journey back.

Track Name: The Liar's Dream [Part 1]
From way up here them mountains look like waves in an endless sea
shining, shimering, all baby-blue & pea-green
& I was wishing that you were here to see this crazy scene
when something just came over me & I laid down between the trees

& I dreamed I was a liar
& I ran away
I had no place to go
I had no place to stay

& I dreamed that I was dying
and I know that I am
because when I woke up
I was not the same man

From way up here this ocean looks like a table
made of stone. Will you wait for me on the other side?
Will you cross it all alone?
I was just wishing you were here to see this endless lack of land
and something just came over me, so I laid down in the sand

& I dreamed I was a liar & I ran away
I had no place to go, I had no place to stay
I dreamed that I was dying, & I know that I am
because when I woke up, I was not the same man,
No I'm not the same man. I 'm just a ghost, a shell & a song
of a man, drifting through the air to the promised land...
Track Name: Hellp
Help me help myself, I am not well
Help me help myself, I am not well
If I'm out raising anything that don't resemble hell
oh, help me, angel.

All of us, what are we?
are we evil? Are we free?

Help me to my feet I'm on my knees
Help me so that I can believe
if the good lord should do anything, so much as even sneeze,
oh help me help me help my eyes to see

chorus

when I say hell, it's not some place that I fell
no I've been diggin ever since I was a kid,
& I aint sayin it was smart, I aint sayin it was right
but at least I know what I did...

Help me help myself I am not well
help me kick, fight & scream & yell
If I'm out raisin anything that don't resemble hell
oh help me, angel.

Chorus x2
Track Name: Morning Song [For Molly]
The sunrise evaporates, like water on the ground
and I watch it go from the patio with my coffee & my frown.

The goldenrod is bleeding off, & the blue is seeping through.
& all I wanna do is sit next to you, in the morning dew, to be here
be true

& Oh, how sweet to get what you're due
Like someone hands you a cake and says:
"might as well eat it too."

The sunset disintegrates the horizon never waits.
Another day, gone & done.
Oh how I pity that lonesome old sun as he's going
below the ground!

and if it were you, I could not rescue, I would follow you
I would go down too.
& oh, how sweet to follow through!
Like someone hands you a cake and says, "hey,
you know what to do."

You're all I'll ever want, you're all I'll ever need.
Even when you're not, it's still good enough for me.
And what is a day, but a lifetime in itself....Today
I knew love, & how it felt.
